I was reflecting the other day how we only get to experience parts of ourselves with certain people. It almost like each person we meet in our journey of life holds a key that can unlocks a version of us. Therefore, with everyone new person you meet, there are endless possibility of you to experience as you witness a new part of your multi-faceted self.
Have you ever notices this? When…
- You meet a friendly and caring dog, you connect and behave in a way attuned only to that creature exhibiting a different speech, body language, tone of voice.
- You meet a person on the train, and they ask you a question, a question that reflect their framework of thinking and offers you an opportunity to take your brain on a new journey and explore different connections and pathway as you reply, learning something new about yourself.
- Even when you get home after a hectic day at work to a loved one and you melt into their hug and experience a silly version of yourself with no veneer as you dance around the kitchen or laugh together.
We often ask ourselves – Who are we?
Well, we are everything and nothing at all. We are the collection of experiences and all the people we meet and all the version of us that they unlock.
So, when next you are being introspective and feeling existential dread at the question ‘ ‘Who am I?’, consider this answer:
“I am everything and I am nothing at all. I am simply experiencing it all and witnessing all the potential Me’s expressed.”
