Tonight is the last full council of my three-year term serving Caversham
It has being an honour to serve Caversham in this way and of course, I will work hard for Caversham till Election Day.
I am pleased to see in my last Council meeting mayorofreading leading us in a minute silence for Ukraine and the council leader bringing forward a motion to support the Reading Ukraine Community Centre and people through earmarked provisions and national schemes.
I was pleased to speak on agenda item 9. The Global Covenant of Mayors for Energy and Climate, Report by Executive Director for Economic Growth & Neighbourhood Services.

Listen to me speak at 2hr05min, about Reading signing the ‘The Global Covenant of Mayors for Energy and Climate (GCoM)’ – the largest global aliance for city climate leadership. A group with the stated mission of GCoM is as follows:
‘We envision a world where committed mayors and local governments – in alliance
with partners – accelerate, ambitious, measurable climate and energy initiatives
that lead to a low-emission and climate-resilient future’.
I was also pleased to note in section 3.6 of the report, he achievements of the Council and its partners in the Reading Climate
Change Partnership in taking forward successive climate change strategies for
Reading. Included on that list of successes was Plastic Free Caversham a group I cofounded that has organised litter pick, mass unwrap, fundraised for a refill station and now is 96% there on plastic free accreditation for Caversham.
