Today is the launch of the Co-operative party’s Diverse Council Declaration at Local Government Association in Westminster.

I am so proud to have been a part of the small working group co-chaired by Baroness Debbie Wilcox and Cllr Anntoinette Bramble with the objective of sharing recommendation to be shared and adopted by all the councils in England to address the cultural, leadership and policy barriers and drivers which contribute to local democratic representation.

With the adoption of our declaration, we will be taking an essential step to diversity in democracy.
